Approach

I started out as a concert photojournalist, shooting music and festivals for Valley Hype, KWSS and the Arizona Republic. Weddings came later, but the habit stuck: stand back, stay out of the way, and photograph what is actually happening rather than arranging a version of it.

That means the in-between moments are the ones I am really working for. The reaction nobody notices, the quiet stretch before anyone is ready, the frame just after the one everybody remembers. Sometimes it means shooting through a window or from the far side of the room so nothing changes because I walked in.

Eight years full time, two hundred and fifty-six weddings, ten states and twenty-one countries so far. Home is Phoenix, with three Weimaraners and one cat, and the bag is always more or less packed. Galleries land at roughly ninety per cent colour and ten per cent black and white, chosen frame by frame.
